Burke + Norfolk: Photographs from the War in Afghanistan by John Burke and Simon Norfolk is running in the Crawford gallery in Cork until June 30th.

From Simon Norfolk’s website, the following description –

“… In October 2010, Simon Norfolk began a series of new photographs in Afghanistan, which takes its cue from the work of nineteenth-century British photographer John Burke. Norfolk’s photographs reimagine or respond to Burke’s Afghan war scenes in the context of the contemporary conflict. Conceived as a collaborative project with Burke across time, this new body of work is presented alongside Burke’s original portfolios. …”

Norfolk will be talking about the work and exhibition at the Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, Co Wicklow, on April 18th at 7pm and at the Crawford on April 19th at 5.30pm.

In addition, the Sirius Arts Centre in partnership with the Crawford Art Gallery are running a four day master class with Norfolk at the end of June. Places are limited, so apply soon if you would like to attend!  See crawfordartgallery.ie/events; 021-4273377
